Understanding your dog’s behaviour is the first step toward making positive changes. Our Behaviour Consultations offer in-depth analysis and customised solutions to address issues such as anxiety, excessive barking, or destructive tendencies. By assessing your dog’s personality and triggers, we develop a step-by-step plan to guide you toward achieving a well-behaved companion.
This service is ideal for dog owners who want expert advice tailored to their specific concerns. Our consultations are designed to give you the tools and confidence to address behavioural challenges effectively. Together, we’ll unlock the potential for a happier and more balanced life for both you and your dog.
No dogs are not born being badly behaved but how we live our life and our initial upbringing, home environment will shape us. With the dog’s natural born temperment and the owners lifestyle this will give us how the dog will grow up and behave. A lively household with no rules will give us a chaotic dog, a home where it is all orderly, planed and peaceful will give us a quiet calmer dog. So we will work with you by having the session in your home to see how the vibe of the house lies and observe what rules and boundaries are within and the reasons your dog is living they way they are and causing them to misbehave. We can them decide a training plan with this lifestyle in mind.
At the end of the first session which lasts 2 and a half to 4 hours, you will see a significant difference in your dog’s behaviour.
Most dogs have easy going temperaments, it is a small percentage (the over confident or the nervous, timid and fearful) that can be a bit more challenging to handle. Many re-homed and rescue dogs carry baggage, just like us, and so they need careful, sensitive handling. Nervous, timid dogs – whether from a rescue home or not – get scared more easily in life and sometimes that fear shows as excessive anxiety / destruction and on occasion can cause a dog to show aggression. This is where Paws in Training stands out: working closely with the needs of our clients we teach you to understand how your dog thinks and show you how to communicate effectively.
The behaviour service is the most rewarding programme offered by us. Issues created by challenging dogs cause huge amounts of anxiety and stress to the owners. They love their dogs yet have tried and failed to cope with excessive barking, food resource guarding or the dog may have shown aggression to another dog/person. Often family and friends stop visiting because of the dogs poor behaviour. We can help because we believe that ANY dog can be transformed to become more calm and happy.
Our home coaching programme will allow us to help you change this problematic behaviour and cover all and more of the following issues:
After an initial assessment on our first visit, we will explain what is causing your dog to misbehave, how to change it, how to add boundaries and rules etc.We show you how to read your dog’s body language and natural learning method. The results are often very quick.
We will then work on the issues needing attention in and outside the home including lots of hands on demonstration by us and let you practice what we have shown you.
We will write up a written plan with clear practice instructions to carry out between visits.
All dogs work at their own pace. It is important the programme is adhered to and practiced daily.
Our personal commitment is to give you as much help and support as you need to establish or regain a happy and rewarding relationship with your dog.
